Kevin James Yeargin
ACOUSTIC PROFILE

Kevin discovered his love for music at an early age and has spent much of his time pursuing it.
“His earliest musical memories are those of the early seventies”

Born Kevin James Yeargin in Salina, Kansas, and growing up in a military family Kevin had the great opportunity to travel and live in such places as Kansas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina, Hawaii and even Japan.

Kevin first picked up a guitar at age 11 and all through his travels music was his constant companion.  Leaving formal guitar lessons behind after only a few months, Kevin learned quickly on his own “learning to play along with songs on records and the radio.”

From those early beginnings KJ has developed an ability to learn songs not by sheet music, but only by listening to them…what his peers now call natural talent.  Kevin notes the singer/songwriters of the sixties and seventies as his earliest influences.

As with all accomplished guitar players, Kevin’s finger-picking style evolved over the years through countless hours with the guitar.  A self-taught “student of the Travis picking style” Kevin attributes most of his musical ability to being able to observe the styles of his favorite artists and incorporate them into his own distinct style of playing and singing.  With a style and sound most often compared to James Taylor and Dan Fogelberg, Kevin’s song list pay homage to his favorite artists and major influences.

With his distinctive guitar playing and melodious voice, Kevin truly connects with hisaudience.  His dedication and passion for music has led him to become a local favorite in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he quickly establishes a following anywhere he plays.

Enjoy the music.
