Neal Davenport

Well versed in the classics, jazz, popular, country, sacred and contemporary fields.

Traveled with country music artist Charley Pride for 5 years as his music director; played piano, synthesizer, and for several years opened his show as vocalist.

Performed with other artists such as Janie Fricke, Dave and Sugar, Barbie Benton, Gary Stewart, Randy Parton and on occasion have backed up many other well known artists.

Scored music for orchestra performed on The Tonight Show (by The Tonight Show Orchestra), The Dinah Shore Show, ABC’s 1981 The Inaugural Gala (for Reagan), and others.

Performed with Charley Pride on The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Dinah Shore Show, Bob Hope Show, Merv Griffin Show, Mike Douglas Show, Hee Haw, Music Hall America, and Phil Donahue.

Performed at events for President Reagan, Vice-President Bush, Congressional leaders, and Members of The United Nations.

Have written songs recorded by Mel Tillis, Eddie Arnold, George Hamilton, Billy Crash Craddock, Randy Parton, Jerry Wallace and others.

Recorded as an artist on MCA Records in 1974 as a pop-country artist and released one single that was a pick hit in Billboard magazine.

Performed in 49 US states, all Canadian provinces, England, Ireland, France, Sweden, Holland, Germany, Scotland, Japan and have toured Australia 3 times.
Quit traveling in 1981 and moved to Charlotte in 1983. Have been performing locally and statewide since.

Currently own Davenport Music Library, a company that produces music on compact disc for businesses, educational and government institutions, and video production companies.
